A Grand Time in Coulee

Well. PK & I have had a great time in Eastern Washington, including Busking at River Front Park in Spokane and a wonderful show in Leavenworth put on by the Community Coffeehouse and Icicle Arts. We felt so fortunate and honored to have PK perform at the last Leavenworth Community Coffeehouse! The Coffeehouse is ending after a seventeen year run and has featured wonderful acoustic performances from many a talented artist. We had a full house attending and PK gave a stellar performance . . . a fine time was had by all! We were given lodging for the night at the Tierra Learning Center & Retreat. The cabin seemed quite luxurious after many nights of tiny motel rooms. The bed was super comfortable and had a down comforter which was wonderful to curl up in! The doggies enjoyed themselves running and sniffing around in the woods, it was all very Zen with no television or wi-fi. So peaceful in contrast with the hectic pace of being on the road.

We then had a few wet & dreary days Busking at Civic Plaza in Wenatchee. Folks were appreciative and dug the music, there just weren't many of them around due to the weather. Smallish Smash & Toast here and the Motel 6 we were at had a weird vibe. I would not stay at that particular one again although I do Love Motel 6. Motel 6 is great for wanderers who travel with dogs . . . I'm hoping they might be a Tour Sponsor next year!

We've been at the Trail West Motel in Grand Coulee, Washington the past few days and I highly recommend it! A bit beat & run down but very clean and the owners are super friendly! Dogs are allowed with a $20 fee. There is a heated pool [which just opened for the season] and BBQ area. Grand Coulee is a neat small town. Very beat in the best kind of way. PK had a couple of really great Busking days playing in front of The Variety Store [Yes, that's the name: The Variety Store and it's like a wonderful old school 5 & 10 type store. The kind of place you could spend at least an hour just browsing around.] The folks in Grand Coulee just Loved PK and his Music & we made good Smash & Toast! Looking forward to a strawberry milk shake from the Tee Pee Drive-in on our way out of town tomorrow. Yum!

The weather has been superfine today [a nice sunny 75 degrees - finally!] . . . and I enjoyed a stroll around the town & discovered the Senior Center Thrift Store where I got six books for 65 cents. They had a great selection of Romance Novels from the '60's and '70's - just what I was looking for and now I'm set for the rest of the trip!

The kick-off of the May Sunbanks Rhythm & Blues Festival is tonight! Music starts @ 8:00 pm tonight with PK's performance in the Acoustic Cantina . . . if you know what's good for you, you'll be there!

  2. Grrrr. Well. I'm missing PK's performance @ Sunbanks because of our dog issues. Basically, they cannot stand to be left alone & set off the car alarm constantly & bark, etc. The Sunbanks R&B Festival is a No Dogs Allowed affair . . . and of course I understand why they have to have it that way. So, I'm just hanging out with the boys in the motel room. The dogs & I do quite a bit of hanging out together. That's what happens when you have Special Needs Children - they rule everything!
